Model Description
The MP 6 was a Japanese-market special version associated with the introduction of the modern MP. Mechanically it follows the regular MP, including its mechanical shutter and built-in TTL exposure meter, but uses exterior details intended to recall earlier Leica M cameras. These include traditional covering and altered top-plate engraving; variants also differ in the film-speed control used on the back. A Leicavit-M could be fitted in place of the normal base plate. The MP 6 preceded or accompanied the establishment of the modern MP as a regular production model rather than constituting a separate mechanical camera design.
