Model Description
The Leica MP 3 was developed with the Leica Historical Society of America and used the modern MP mechanism beneath an extensively redesigned exterior. Early-M details included raised surrounds around the finder windows, extended strap lugs, a manually set external frame counter and a simplified finder with frames for 35mm, 50mm and 90mm lenses. The camera retained the modern TTL meter. Outfits could include a matching Leicavit and a 50mm f/1.4 Summilux-M ASPH. made with exterior styling based on an earlier Summilux. The special components required more alteration than a conventional finish-and-engraving edition.
