Model Description
The Leica M4 MOT was a motor-ready development of the M4 and continued the work begun with the M2-M and M4-M. The electric motor attached beneath the camera and drove the film transport automatically. The necessary mechanical coupling required a purpose-built body rather than an ordinary M4 with a motor simply added afterward. The camera was produced in small numbers for applications where sequential exposures were required. Later M cameras incorporated motor-winder compatibility more routinely, making a separate specialist motor body unnecessary.
