Model Description
The Leica M4-M adapted the M4 for the E. Leitz New York electric motor system. Internal changes were necessary to connect the motor to the camera’s film transport, so the body differed mechanically from a standard M4. The drive attached beneath the camera and provided automatic film advance for professional and institutional work. Production was very small, with only a few hundred cameras represented. The M4-M followed the motor work carried out with the M2-M and was succeeded by cameras bearing the M4 MOT designation.
