Model Description
The Leica M3 J was made for the opening of Leica’s Ginza store in Tokyo in 2006. The camera is based mechanically on the contemporary MP but its exterior was designed after an early black-painted M3. Details included early-pattern strap lugs, black-painted controls and an M3-style upper body. Unlike the original M3, it has a built-in exposure meter and uses a 0.72× finder. The Japanese retail price at introduction was ¥627,900. The M3 J was therefore a modern metered MP internally, with external construction developed specifically to reproduce details of an early M3
