Model Description
The Leica III followed in 1933 and added a separate slow-speed shutter mechanism. A dial on the front of the body provided longer timed exposures, extending the shutter range to one second, while the normal faster speeds remained on the top dial. The coupled rangefinder and separate optical viewfinder of the Leica II were retained. Strap lugs were also incorporated into the body. The two-dial shutter arrangement became characteristic of the fully equipped III-series cameras and remained in use through most of the later screw-mount range.
