Model Description
The 18 × 24 Leica cameras used approximately half the negative area of the normal 24 × 36mm Leica frame. Two exposures could therefore occupy the film length normally required for one standard Leica photograph. The best-known production form was the Leica 72, named for the approximately 72 photographs obtainable from a normal 36-exposure roll. Earlier experimental 18 × 24 cameras and later specialist versions account for the widely separated dates in the records and should not be read as continuous manufacture. Only 53 cameras are represented across the two recorded variants.
